  Shands Burn Center in Gainesville, Fl is the BEST IN THE WORLD . We had a terrible house fire in Jan. 2012. My husband was burned all over his body (about 30%). The care he received at this unit was amazing. There were times when we did not think he would survive, but because of the treatment he received from the Burn Unit, he did. The nurses in the burn center are second to no one. They were very attentive and they were able to make life or death decisions under extreme pressure. I am not exaggerating when I say life or death. The nurses watched over him like a hawk. The Physicians at the Burn Center are so very knowledgeable and always kept me and our family informed. The Burn Center did such a good job, that the original release date for my husband was 6 to 8 months out, however, with such great care, he was discharged in 3 months. Awesome...Wonderful....they are. I will be forever grateful and Thank God for letting him heal at Shands Burn Center . The staff at the Burn Center are wonderful as well...very professional....very protective of the patients. I really appreciated them. Today, over a year since the fire....my husband is doing very well....he has had several follow up visits with the burn center and they are just as wonderful as the in-patient staff. I could go on and on about Shands Burn Center...but I mainly want to say how very blessed we were to have been sent to Shands Burn Center in Gainesville,Fl. Thank You Very Much Shands Burn Center.
